Please join us for the community office hour focused on GenAI best practices, feedback, user needs, and other aspects of using Generative AI technology at UCSF this Wednesday, July 24th.
Topic: Evaluating GPT-4 for Drafting Hospital Medicine Discharge Summaries
Presenters:
oChris Williams, MD, Postdoctoral Scholar, Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute
Description: Drs. Chris Williams and Charu Subramanian will present their research on the application of advanced generative AI technology (GPT-4 Versa API) in creating hospital medicine discharge summaries. Large language models possess a range of capabilities which may be applied to the clinical domain, one of which is text summarization. Writing concise but accurate summaries of clinical information is an important task within healthcare, allowing pertinent information to be communicated between medical professionals and from clinician to patient. Here, they will evaluate the quality of GPT-4-generated discharge summaries across several key domains and compare it to the quality of human-generated summaries.
