Diagnostic Feedback in Clinical Registries Implementation Grants Awarded
UCSF and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS) have awarded grants to support specialty societies in improving diagnostic feedback through clinical registries. Funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, these grants will help clinicians enhance diagnostic performance in ophthalmology, lung cancer detection, lupus nephritis, and pediatric conditions. UCSF and CMSS will also coordinate cross-specialty learning to identify best practices.
Implementation Grant Recipients:
- American Academy of Ophthalmology – Diagnostic Performance Feedback for Ophthalmology through the IRIS® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight)
- American College of Radiology – Implementation of the Early Detection of Lung Cancer Registry Supporting Diagnostic Performance Feedback
- American College of Rheumatology – Feedback on Diagnostic Pathway Adherence at Scale for the Timely Diagnosis of Lupus Nephritis in Routine Clinical Practice: Leveraging the American College of Rheumatology’s RISE Registry
- American Academy of Pediatrics – Improving Diagnostic Excellence through Pediatric Primary Care Performance Feedback: CHILD Registry*
“We are excited to support these societies with funding to turn these plans into reality. We hope that these will serve as models in healthcare for providing feedback on diagnostic performance that will ultimately benefit patients.”

About the UCSF Division of Clinical Informatics and Digital Transformation (DoC-IT)
DoC-IT serves as the academic home for applied clinical informatics researchers within the UCSF Department of Medicine. We also serve as a coordinating entity with key internal and external digital stakeholders across all UCSF mission areas, schools, departments, and divisions. Clinical informatics is approached as a multidisciplinary field that involves the use of technology by a broad spectrum of health professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.
